You forgot the umbrella, and of course, it starts raining…
You ran into town for quick errand with the baby, but forgot to pack that spare outfit, and you have a major blowout…
You just got the kiddos to sleep, and you’re trying to be as quiet as possible as you tidy up before bed. Of course, you step on the sharpest toy you own, trip and knock over all the blocks you just picked up. Both kiddos wake up screaming…
You run to the grocery to pick up a few things you need. You get home and realize you forgot the main item you went to the store for in the first place…
After cleaning up the house, so you can truly relax and prop your feet up during nap time + enjoy a little “me” time, someone decides they only want to take a 45 minute nap for the day
Sound familiar? I feel like this is the story of my life on repeat right here. There’s always something. Things never seem to go quite like we’ve planned / hoped. Why is that? Why can’t things be as simple as they seem? Why is it that when we play a situation out in our heads, it never follows our script? Now, are you ready for the answer…
Because we’re human, and this life is not perfect.

It’s a pretty simple answer, but it’s true. If we ourselves and this life were perfect, none of this would ever happen. So, stop expecting your life to run perfectly. It’s not supposed to people! Furthermore, everything that happens to us happens for a reason. Believe that! Believe that with all of your heart, and trust in it.
Maybe the extra time you spent changing little babe’s clothes after the blowout was keeping you from having a car accident…
Maybe waking your sleeping children up after you’ve just gotten them to sleep means that they’ll take a long nap tomorrow, so you can finally get the “me” time you’ve been wanting all week long.
You see, the second we start to look at the “inevitable” as “what’s meant to be” our stress slowly starts to melt away. Because when it comes down to it, we can’t control what’s going to happen. We can only control how we react to it, and that’s the most important part. Why? Because it ultimately sets the tone for how we conduct ourselves as a person.. a wife.. a mom… an employee. When you let these “inevitable things” get to you, they will. And, they will ruin you! It’s a never-ending cycle really because these things will continue to happen. So, we’ve got to learn how to respond to them, so we can set ourselves up for success + less stress.
The moment we decide to let the negativity of the situation control our reaction, we’ve lost.
Our emotions — stress, anger, frustration, sadness, defeat — take control, and it’s hard to pull ourselves out of their dominating nature on our happiness. So, stop letting them take control! It’s time for us to be in control once and for all. But how?
Start believing the inevitable is working for us, not against us.
{READ THAT AGAIN} … You’re immediately turning a negative into a positive, and training your mind to react a certain way to stressful, frustrating…etc. situations. What happens to you in this life truly does happen for a reason.
Stop stressing the inevitable and start enjoying the humor in it’s unexpected nature. What happens is ultimately working for your good.
